What benefits can you receive from your work-related injury?

A workplace injury, depending on factors such as type of injury and the severity of that injury, may qualify you to receive some of all of the benefits listed below:

Is your employer required to provide workers compensation coverage?

According to relevant law, an employer is required to provide coverage if they are:

  • In an industry, except construction, and have four (4) or more employees, full-time or part-time
  • In the construction industry and have at least (1) employee
  • A state or local government
  • A farmer, and has more than five (5) regular employees if twelve (12) or more workers for seasonal agricultural labor lasting more than (30) days.

What to do to preserve a claim?

  • You should get the required medical treatment
  • Report your accident to your supervisor immediately. 
  • Make sure that an accident report is filled out.
  • Keep a copy of all of your medical reports and bills that you receive that are associated with your work related accident
  • Contact a law firm that deals with workers' compensation
